#NigeriaDecides: Buhari maintains lead as INEC releases 5 more states presidential election results
President Candidate of the Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to lead his rival candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, now in wider margin, even as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) releases fresh results from five more states.
INEC, which commenced collations of results from the 2019 Presidential Election Results National Collation Centre in Abuja on Monday, released results from 12 states which it did into the about 12.30am midnight of Tuesday 26 February 2019 with Buhari 2,805,918 votes leading his rival, Atiku who polled 2,690,619 votes on a margin of 115,299 votes
The margin with which APC’s Buhari leads PDP’s Atiku widened, however, as INEC on Tuesday released results from the four states of Anambra 33,298 (APC); 524,738 (PDP), Jigawa 794,738 (APC); 289,895 (PDP), Niger 612,371 (APC); 218,052 (PDP), Kaduna 993,445 (APC); 649,612 (PDP) and Bauchi 798,428 (APC); 209,313 (PDP).
By Tuesday’s first batch of results released totaling 3,232,280 (APC) and 1,630,700 (PDP), President Muhammadu Buhari was clearly leading with 1,601,580 votes margin wider than that of 115,299 from 12 states results released Monday.
