NIGERIA: Matriarch of Kola Animasaun dynasty congratulates President-elect Tinubu

By BASHIR ADEFAKA

“On Nigeria, she urged Tinubu to ensure that ministers and presidential aides, with whom he will surround himself in the seat of power and who will be chosen from across the regions of the country, should be people of trusted character whose first, second and third interest will be Nigeria before other interests.”

Matriarch of Alhaji Kola Animasaun Dynasty, Alhaja Siliphat Modupe Animasaun, has congratulated the winner of penultimate presidential election in Nigeria, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his victory in the keenly contested electoral exercise.

Modupe, wife of astute journalism veteran and diplomat late Alhaji Kola Animasaun, sent the congratulatory message in a message sent to the press in Lagos on Sunday.

She described the battle for the presidency participated in by Bola Tinubu, a committed friend and fan of her late husband who was author of Vanguard Newspaper’s Sunday column and book series: ‘Voice of Reason’, as one that is indicative of victory especially destined to happen by the Almighty Allah.

“If his friend, that is my husband, were to be alive today, the burden of support for Tinubu’s presidency would be more shouldered and supported by him. But because I am the only one in the marital union that is here, I have prayed for him day and night from the beginning of the struggle, not for the fact of politics but for the fact that Allah should make him overcome all plots of antagonists and then raise him to the position of glory in the end.

“The right to choose a leader belongs only to Allah, our franchise as voters is mere means for actualising Allah’s purpose on the surface of the earth and the fact that it is Tinubu that has emerged makes us say “thank you Allah”.  Then, we thank the Lord of the worlds for his mercy on us to have blessed Nigeria, this time, with a personality like Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President.

“Mo ki Iyawo mi naa”, saying this in Yoruba about Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President-elect, saluting her, “for standing firm with her husband. Yes, she is a Christian but she refused to be swayed against her husband by those who turned the contest to a battle for religious supremacy instead of seeing it as an exercise to seek office to better the lives of all Nigerians. She chose her husband and Nigeria against all kinds of religious bigotism of those that did it and has the fruit of the good wife, which she stands to be, behind her husband. I congratulate you, Senator Oluremi Tinubu also,” Alhaja Animasahun joyfully expressed.

On Nigeria, she urged Tinubu to ensure that ministers and presidential aides, with whom he will surround himself in the seat of power and who will be chosen from across the regions of the country, should be people of trusted character whose first, second and third interest will be Nigeria before other interests.

“I pray that Almighty Allah, who chose you, Tinubu, will provide you with the wherewithal and all the technical know-how that he requires to function to succeed as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Alhaja Modupe Kola Animasaun prayed for the President-elect.
