The committee set up by the national headquarters of All Progressives Congress (APC) to mediate in the crisis between governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and federal lawmakers has visited Bauchi for fact finding.
The committee headed by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige was in Bauchi to meet with relevant stakeholders in order to ascertain the remote and immediate causes of the lingering political crisis.
Briefing journalists after a meeting with governor Abubakar, members of his cabinet and other political stakeholders in the state, Senator Ngige said that the committee was on a fact finding mission in Bauchi State.
He said that the committee had met the lawmakers led by the Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and discussed a lot on the issue in an attempt to find solution to the crisis.
Ngige explained that the committee had met with the national assembly members where it compiled their grievances with the governor, adding that they came to the state to meet party leaders and stakeholders to discuss on the matter and submit report and recommendation to national headquarters.
The minister who promised to give all the warring parties fair hearing expressed optimism that the crisis would be settled within the shortest possible time.
“We started sitting with the national assembly members led by the speaker house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara and some senators like senator Nazif, senator wakili and the house of reps members. We sat with them in Abuja and the governor. But we are here to see facts for ourselves”. He noted.
Responding, Governor Abubakar commended the party for setting up the reconciliation committee .
He assured the committee of his readiness to give maximum cooperation for it to discharge it’s assignment successfully.
He also called on the committee to tour all the 20 local governments areas of the state and inspect the ongoing projects embarked upon by his administration in order to ‘ dispel accusations by the legislators that they were at loggerhead with him due to poor performance.
Ngige was accompanied by former Military Administrator of kaduna State, Col. Lawal Jafar Isa (Rtd) and the ex- head of civil service of the federation, Alhaji Gambo magaji among others.
