President, Muslims Ummah Foundation (MUF), Ustadh Nurudeen Miftaudeen, delivering his lecture to the youths in Ijoko, Sango-Ijoko Local Council Development Area of Ogun State, on Thursday.

was organised mainly to prepare the youths for the challenges of today with a view to propping them up for the emergence leadership of the future particularly as they will be required to be part of nation building project.

Getting the youths of today prepared for those challenges, MUF believes that certain efforts are required which, according to the President of the Foundation, Ustadh Nurudeen Miftaudeen, include instilling into the consciousness of the youths from now the essence of the fear of Allah and good character, adding that only with fear of Allah and good character would make a child grow into the consciousness of developing the zeal for loving to be part of building his nation, loving and behaving well to other people around him and being of good personality to himself.

To effectively achieve that in practical terms, the MUF President told The DEFENDER, was the reason for organising the workshop with selected speakers, who were on ground to deliver papers on the various topics that in the end would have convincingly proved that the participating students got more than anticipated in equipping themselves for the challenges of the future of the country.

Among the speakers who delivered papers at the workshop were Mr. Musa Akinlolu and an Ogun State-based educationist and Islamic scholar, Ustadh Abdul-Hakeem Talhah, who spoke on “Who are youth? (qualities and responsibility – Islamic perspective) and Mr. Akinlolu who gave his own paper on “Psychology of Success.”

Delivering his paper, Mr. Akinolu, who started by defining psychology as “the study of human behavior” said psychology of success was the mindset that one had for success, adding that people failed in their endeavours because they lacked the mindset of success but that of “I can’t.”

Akinlolu gave factors militating against success in life as procrastination, lack of passion, lack of vision, inadequate plan and inability to set goals and came down to the level of the growing up students to say that any youth that must be successful academically must follow some steps to academic success, which include setting of goal, having positive attitude towards one’s studies, managing one’s time, reading, attending class classes among others.

He said to be successful personally, “a youth must have education, skill, contact, strive for money and never to focus on free money and then that one must have good work habit and positive mental attitude among others.

In his own paper to the youths, Ustadh Abdul-Hakeem Talhah listed some qualities that must be found in a youth to qualify as good and shining example for others in the society.  The fear of Allah and good character towards the state and other people were part of the examples he cited.

Others who also spoke at the workshop included the President of Muslims Ummah Foundation, Ustadh Nurudeen Miftaudeen, whose paper centred on “Youth and Islamic ideology” and Ustaz Muhammad Kamaldeen, who spoke on “Youth problem and the effects of western ideology.”
