MOTHER’S DAY: Ohanaeze celebrates Anglican Mothers

*Calls for women inclusiveness in leadership and policy making

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly, Barr. Basil Onyeachonam Onuorah, has described mothers as both home and community builders given their capacity and commitment to train the next generation leaders to effectively undertake their private and public responsibilities.

Onuorah disclosed this in a statement by Dandove Nwankwo, Special Assistant on Media to President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide, by The DEFENDER.

In the statement issued on Sunday in commemoration of the 2021 Anglican Mother’s Day/Sunday, he affirmed that mothers have enormous responsibilities to nurture children to combat societal challenges.

The legal luminary further applauded and commended the Women Wing for their solidarity, dedication and result oriented programs to achieve the general objectives of the group.

“Today Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide reiterates its support to continue training and empowering women and children, particularly in rural communities given the need for assistance to uplift their potentials.

“Let me reiterate our earlier decision which as co-creator and community builders, for their selfless sacrifices and commitment to socio-economic and political development; and achievements inspite of the social stereotypes and other cultural practices/traditional beliefs that pose as challenges,” Onuorah affirmed.

The renowned human rights Lawyer urged mothers towards proper upbringing of their children particularly their daughters, which will enable them to be better mothers and leaders in all fields.

The President General reiterated that Ohanaeze Ndigbo will continue to partner with religious institutions and other relevant organizations to create more opportunities for human capital development.
