Mojisola Meranda emerges, sworn in as new Lagos Assembly Speaker

What is not clear to our reporter is if the emergence of Mojisola Meranda, an indigene of Lagos State but loyalist of Bola Tinubu, has satisfied part of demands of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, a socio-cultural organisation clamouring for indigenes (not non-indigenes) to manage the affairs of their constitutionally bestowed State.
Hon. Mojisola Meranda has emerged as the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Meranda, a confirmed Lagos State indigene of the Ojora Royal Royal Family, emerged following the impeachment, on Monday, of Mudashiru Ajaiyi Obasa as speaker over some allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency I, was previously the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
She has been a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for three consecutive terms, starting from 2015.
With her new role, Meranda is expected to lead the House and ensure the passage of laws that benefit the people of Lagos.
Meranda has since been sworn in as successor to the seat after Obasa, who for many years now has been representing Agege Constituency I in the state House of Assembly.
