The Lagos State Police Command, on Sunday, said it received calls from two Churches alerting it about who they called strange men in their midst.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who posted this via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, said he particularly received call from one of the Churches, with the caller saying the strange faces sighted were in fact of ‘three Fulani men’.
He, however, said against the caller’s claim, the men the police saw on arrival at the Church were neither Fulani nor was any incriminating item found on them.
“Today (Sunday) alone, two churches called the Police that they spotted strange looking men in their midst. One church even claimed it was ‘three Fulani men’ they saw. We responded swiftly. The men were not Fulani and had nothing incriminating on them. However, we are still investigating.
“Unfortunately, even before our arrival, panic-filled voice notes started flying around. While we appreciate security consciousness and speaking up promptly, we enjoin Lagosians not to panic, be jumpy or paranoid. All said, if you see something, still say something,” the PPRO said.
