Lagos LG Poll Results: APC asks PDP to shut up

The Lagos State All Progressives Congress,  APC,  has told the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to shut up for disputing the results of last Saturday’s council Poll in Lagos.

The party said its attention had been drawn to a press conference held in Lagos on Wednesday  by the confused faction of Bode George’s PDP where it claimed that the July 22, 2017 Local Government Elections was marred by rigging, irregularities and the snatching of ballot boxes by hoodlums working for APC.

In a Statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Joe Igbokwe, the party said it is the height of political irresponsibility and a shame that a party that was not prepared to face the elections was  coming out now to cry wolf when there is none.

“The struggle for the position of the National Chairman of the Party by the two factions of the party led by Bunu Sherrif and Markafi dealt a devastating and debilitating blow to Lagos PDP which split along Markafi and Bunu Sherrif political divides. When the Supreme handed over to Markafi faction the bubble burst as the falcon could not bear the falconer, and the centre could no longer hold for Lagos PDP.

“A faction of Lagos PDP led by Chief Bode George who is in the victorious Markafi’s faction formed an alliance with Labour Party to fight APC Lagos in July 22 elections. The other faction of Lagos PDP led by Segun Adewale ( Aeroland) lost out with Bunu Sherrif at the Supreme Court and we do not know whether the Bunu Sherrif faction put its hat into the ring in the election. Now you can see the confusion, internal contradictions and divisiveness in the house of cards called PDP Lagos.

“The leadership of APC Lagos traversed the political landscape of Lagos in the cause of our grassroots and door to door campaigns just to check whether the opposition is doing anything in terms of campaigns but we did not see PDP/LP in action. Neither did we see Segun Adewale’s group in action. To all intents and purposes they were nowhere to be found, they could not gather themselves together, they did not prepare, they could not even sit down to pick candidates, they did not campaign, they have no agenda, they have no plan. They were just so confused and clueless,” APC said.

It added that “Lagos PDP knows it is not on ground in Lagos and can never be on ground for a long time to come. APC has a cult of committed and dedicated followers in Lagos who labour even without being plodded to support and stand behind the leaders and the party they have known since 1999. They know that neither Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Fashola or Ambode have failed them. Our followers tell us that the 57/57 bold political statement in July 22, 2017 is a way of showing gratitude Gov Akinwunmi Ambode’s excellent, stellar and superlative performance in just two years. They say this will encourage him to do more.

” Lagos PDP should just keep quiet and go home to find out where the rains started beating them. The confusion in PDP was noticed today, July 26, 2017 press conference in Lagos as they could not agree on what to present to the public. This blame game and the attempt to shift blames will not help the party. Only an honest self re-examination and soul searching can do the magic.

“What Lagos PDP is saying can be likened to the tale of two women in the Bible, who, one out of carelessness overlaid her child and the child died and when she could not claim the living child demanded of King Solomon to kill the living child so that two of them would become childless.”
