Lagos Islamic scholar, TV broadcaster, Amir Qamardeen Ajala, is dead

Lagos-based Islamic scholar and television broadcaster, Amir Qamardeen Ajala, has passed away.
The shocking death of the renowned “goodhearted’ Islamic cleric, evening of Thursday January 23, 2025, threw the Nigerian Muslim community into a mourning mood as it became confirmed that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hajj Monsur Consolidated Travels Limited, had embarked on a journey of no return.
A family source reportedly said, “He wasn’t ill. In fact, he observed his Salaatul Maghrib and returned home to eat so he could go back to observe Salaatul Ishai when he slumped. He was rushed to the Lagos Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”
A family member who has access to the late Muslim scholar’s phone confirmed the passing of Amir Ajala.
The DEFENDER reports that Salaatul Janazah that is the funeral prayers for the departed scholar was held on Friday January 24 at the Campus Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, led by the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh (Engr.) Sulaimon Abou-Nollah, at 10.00am as directed by two respected Islamic scholars (Sheikh AbdulRahman Ahmad and Sheikh Zikrulahi Shaffi) he named in his wasiyyah (will) that should direct the affairs of funeral.
“We leave immediately after the prayer for the burial activities at the Mainland Central Muslim Community Burial Ground, Mowe/Ofada, Ogun State ,” the source believed to be a burial committee added.
In the meantime, The DEFENDER Newspaper, in a statement by its President, AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadejia (Rtd), has reacted to the death of the fallen Islamic reforms hero.
According to the management, “16 months ago, The DEFENDER Nigeria TV interviewed him on coming of Ramadan and he said NO STARTING OF FASTING WITHOUT SULTAN OF SOKOTO’S DECLARATION – Rest In Peace!” It said.
The Retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police recalled that late Amir Qamardeen Ajala was a greet friend of The DEFENDER, describing him as a kind, goodhearted Islamic scholar who lived for Islam, served Islam with all his strength and supported the course of humanity with all show of sincerity.

“We went down short of words when told about his demise Friday morning. The news of the death of Amir Qamardeen Ajala was one of rude shock and deep pain. But we have no choice as he has only answered natural call of the giver and taker of life, only who has the right to take life and has taken his.
“May Allah please forgive forgive him, overlook his shortcomings, accept acts of worship and repose his gentle soul in Al-Jannah Firdaus, Amiin,” AIG Hadejia said in The DEFENDER’s statement.
