Kola Abiola, ex-IGP Smith, Rhodes-Vivour, De Renaissance leaders in attendance as Tolagbe Animashaun is buried

The remains of popular town-planner and politician, Mr. Muritala Atolagbe Animashaun, have been laid to rest.

Tola, as he was fondly called, was committed to mother earth after duly observed Islamic rites procession that started in Lekki Central Mosque through the Ahmadiyyah Central Mosque, Ebutte Meta, where he was laid in state.

The DEFENDER Newspaper, which covered the burial rites, reports that National President, Ahmadiyyah Nurul Islam Society of Nigeria, Alhaji Tajudeen Agoro, led other leaders, family and friends in paying their last respect to the departed Omo EKO Pataki and presenting the organisation’s condolence letter followed by janazah prayer and supplications for his repose in Al-Jannah Firdaus before the body departed for his final resting place in Ebony Vaults Ikoyi, where it was finally interred, on Wednesday September 10, 2025.

This global online newspaper, it will be recalled, had reported that Mr. Atolagbe Animashaun, passed away evening of Tuesday September 9, 2025 at the age of 73.

He was son of popular Lagos Islamic broadcaster and cleric Muritala Ajadi Animashaun a.k.a. ‘Enia biyin nimi’ and younger sibling of Alhaji Abdul Yakeen Olanrewaju Animashaun, late father of former Minister of Communications Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), and late Ganiyu Kayode (GK) Animashaun,

His funeral, fully manned and controlled by security agents (operatives of the Nigerian Police Force and officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority – LASTMA), was well attended by very many sympathisers including Alhaji AbdulLateef Kola Abiola, former Presidential Candidate and son of late Alhaji MKO Abiola, winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election; former Inspector General of Police, IGP Muslim Smith (Rtd); Oba of Lagos ably represented by three chiefs with his staff conspicuously on display; former Lagos State governorship candidate, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, President of Lagos State socio-cultural organization, De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, Mr. Bolaji Are, former Managing Director of the defunct First African Trust Bank, Mr. Yomi Tokosi; former Commissioner of Police, CP Tajudeen Bajare (Rtd); Barrister Tunde Kasali; Mr. George Taylor, Navy Captain Tunji Sele (Rtd); former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Security and Administration Authority (NIMASA), Dr. Ade Dosumu; Major Tunde Panox (Rtd), Major Yomi Williams (Rtd), and Comrade Daniel Alao, among several others.
