Kano journalist reveals who brought dollars bribe for Tinubu’s Rivers emergency rule vote buying

By OUR REPORTER

Fiery Kano State-born journalist, Jaafar Jaafar, says not only that National Assembly members were bribed to give their voice vote in approving the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State but also that, the most disturbing of it is that some House of Representatives members got pittance collecting $5,000 to do so.

“A disturbing aspect of the ratification of the emergency rule in Rivers State by the NASS is that members of the House of Reps mortgaged their conscience for a pittance.

“Three members of the House of Reps confirmed to me that those who voted got $5,000 each – not even the reported $25,000.”

Revealing name of person who delivered the money, Jaafar said, “Instructively, the greenback envelops were allegedly brought by the chairman of the House Committee on FCT, Mukhtar Aliyu Betara.”

Recall that reports earlier said both members of God’swill Akpabio-led Senate and Tajudeen Abbas-led House of Representatives were bribed in Thursday with an amount between $15,000 to $25,000 to form corum for the approval of the President Tinubu’s controversial declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State.

The DEFENDER reports that former Governor of Sokoto State Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, for er Governor of Bayelsa State Senator Seriake Dickson, former Minority Leader of the Senate Ogbonnaya Abaribe, and son of Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, no-nonsense former Governor of Kaduna State, Honourable Muhammed Bello El-Rufai, either strongly opposed to the emergency during plenaries or absented themselves from the sitting, citing its unconstitutionality.
