To avert the avoidable crisis lurking, therefore, the Imam stood on the Mimbar in the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque, seizing the opportunity of the sermon in enjoining security agencies to be at alert to arrest those behind such illegal order, adding that, “they are trouble makers who would precipitate crisis and run away.”

Governors all over the Federation have been called upon to be proactive in dealing with security issues in their domain.

The Chief Imam of Lagos Secretariat Mosque Alausa, Ikeja, Imam Abdul-Hakim Alugo, made the call in his khutbah, Friday sermon during the Jumaat Service.

He observed that in some parts of Yorubal Land, some individuals were giving quit order to some Nigerians of a particular ethnic group, warning that if such orders are not curbed, it could lead to civil disorder capable of further escalation to “erious crisis”.

Although he did not mention what ethnic group was given the quit notice to leave Yoruba Land, Imam Alugo obviously was speaking in reaction to ultimatum by one Sunday Igboho in Oyo State, who had asked the Fulani community in the state to pack and go within seven days he would lead other youths of his tribe to kill all Fulani in sight.

Igboho is believed to have carried his threat from political angle, being, according to sources, a member of opposition who have clamoured for expulsion of Fulani and Hausa from Yoruba Land because “they know that the North will retaliate and then the nation will be in chaos.”

Imam Alugo also appealed to the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to overhaul security machinery of the country “to arrest all criminals and refrain from defending a particular group in a way that creates negative impression”.

Rather, he said, FG should stand tor all Nigerians in order to promote unity of the country.

He appealed to “Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic and religious differences, to continue to live together in peace warning that those behind troubleshooting are ethnic and political characters wanting to set Nigeria ablaze for their selfish interests”

The Islamic cleric warned that civil unrest in some African countries like Rwanda and Libya have left people worse than they were before and so urged Nigerians to learn from their past mistakes and things that caused in order land in order to avoid a repeat of those unfortunate experience here, now and in the future.
