Jaji demands cancellation of Zamfara APC Congresses

According to him, several aspirants and party members were denied the opportunity to participate in the ward and local government congresses despite duly purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms through party-designated accounts.
A member of the representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, has called on the national leadership of the (APC) to cancel the recently conducted party congresses in Zamfara State, describing them as irregular and unconstitutional.
Jaji made the call during a press conference held at his residence in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital. He alleged that the committee deployed from the APC national headquarters conspired with certain individuals to manipulate the congress process, thereby undermining the rights and dignity of party members in his constituency and across the state.
According to him, several aspirants and party members were denied the opportunity to participate in the ward and local government congresses despite duly purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms through party-designated accounts.
He further described the exercises as “kangaroo congresses,” claiming they were conducted without the genuine participation of APC members and in violation of the party’s constitution. Jaji also alleged that some of the participants were members of opposition parties, including the (PDP), contrary to APC guidelines.
The lawmaker called on the APC National Chairman and the National Working Committee to immediately address the situation by cancelling the congresses, dissolving the state working committee to ensure inclusivity and fairness, and setting a new date for fresh congresses.
He also urged the reconciliation committee constituted by President to intervene and resolve the lingering crisis within the Zamfara APC to prevent a recurrence of the internal disputes that affected the party’s fortunes in 2019.
Jaji appealed to the Minister of State for Defence and immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, , to step in and safeguard the unity of the party in line with established party traditions. He also urged party members and aspirants to remain calm and await further directives from the national leadership, expressing hope for a timely and fair resolution of the matter.
