Isolo Monarch honours Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Prince Adefaka, ex-Commissioner, Gbenga Olaniyi, others
*As Deji of Akure, Iralepo of Isinkan, Alaaye of Aaye, Akapinsa, Olujoka, others grace Ita-Osolo (Owayoko) Festival 2025

In addition to DCI Adefaka, several distinguished individuals were honoured, including Barrister Gbenga Olaniyi, the immediate past Chairman of Akure South Local Government and Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development; Alhaja Faozat Akorede-Gidado, a special assistant to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The Ita-Osolo Festival of Isolo Kingdom, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, was marked by a grand ceremony on September 2, 2025, where the Osolo of Isolo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Osalade II, honoured the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Investigation and Compliance, Ondo State Command, Prince Akinsehinwa Saka Adefaka.

This recognition was given for his exemplary service and contributions to the community as a prince of the kingdom and to the nation as senior public servant.

In addition to DCI Adefaka, several distinguished individuals were honoured, including Barrister Gbenga Olaniyi, the immediate past Chairman of Akure South Local Government and Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development; Alhaja Faozat Akorede-Gidado, a Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; and Prince Bashir Olawale Saka, the Chairman of Abiskoly Real Estate Developer Nigeria Limited, among others.

The festival showcased the vibrant culture of Isolo Kingdom, filled with splendour and enthusiasm as prominent dignitaries participated in the celebrations.

Notable attendees included the Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Fasua, Deji of Akure, Oba Dr. Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, and other royal figures such as the Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba (Barrister) Olugbenga Ojo Olofin-Adimula, the Akapinsa of Ipinsa, Oba Omoniyi Olufunmilayo, and the Alaaye of Aaye, Oba (Elder) Peter Adeoye Adeleye Onimoro III, who was accompanied by his wife, Olori Abimbola Fola Adeyeye.

Family members of the awardees were also present, celebrating the achievements of their loved ones during this festive occasion.
Prince Babatunde Saliu Adefaka, the head of The Adefaka Family, other relatives and senior officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service accompanied DCI Akin Adefaka to receive his award, embracing the dual roles of celebration and support.

The Deji of Akure expressed immense joy during the festival, taking on the roles of both royal father of the day and presenter of the Osolo’s meritorious awards to the awardees.

The Elemo of Isolo, High Chief Ibukun Aladetoyinbo, other members of the Osolo-in-Council, members of the traditional ruler’s immediate family including the Oloris and one of his children, Princess Dupe Adewole, were seen working hard along side event officials and other supportive subjects in ensuring collective contribution to make the Ita-Osolo Festival a huge success.

The festival, formerly known as the Owoyoko (the town’s yam festival), has evolved into the modernized Ita-Osolo Festival, featuring a series of activities leading up to the grand finale.

The festivities began on September 1 with events such as “Ida’su” and “Ila’su/Ije’su,” culminating in a vibrant celebration that included participation from various community groups, traditional Igbo dancers, and local associations.

The festival was attended by many locals and friends from Isolo and the ancient Akure community, all celebrating with the Osolo Adewole and appreciating the accomplishments of distinguished sons and daughters of Isolo, like DCI Adefaka.

The event highlighted the culture and unity of the community, presenting an opportunity for further modernization and engagement in future celebrations.
