Iran declares ‘victory’ in US-Israel war, showcases recovered enemy’s fighter jets’ debris, undetonated bombs for analysis

Iranian authorities have claimed a symbolic victory over the United States after recovering debris from a U.S. fighter jet reportedly shot down during the ongoing conflict.
State-affiliated media in Iran circulated images and footage said to show wreckage from the downed aircraft, which U.S. officials have identified as an F-15E fighter jet lost during recent hostilities.
Iranian officials framed the incident as a military success, with some reports suggesting that recovered debris could be studied for potential intelligence or technological insights. However, there has been no independent confirmation that the materials will be used for reverse engineering.
The downing of the aircraft marks a significant escalation in the conflict, as it is one of the first confirmed cases of a U.S. fighter jet being shot down over Iranian territory in the current war.
U.S. sources confirmed that one crew member was rescued, while efforts to locate the second continued at the time of reporting.
Analysts note that while Iran has previously leveraged captured or recovered foreign military technology for reverse engineering—such as earlier drone incidents—claims regarding new materials should be treated cautiously until verified.
In the meantime, Iranian authorities have also announced the recovery and neutralization of unexploded bombs left behind following recent military strikes, highlighting ongoing risks from undetonated ordnance across parts of the country.
According to official statements, specialized units from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have identified and cleared large quantities of unexploded munitions, including bunker-buster bombs, rockets, and thousands of smaller bomblets.
Officials said some of the recovered weapons were safely defused, while others were destroyed in controlled operations. In certain cases, intact bombs have reportedly been transferred to relevant authorities after being secured.
Iranian authorities emphasized that unexploded ordnance remains a significant safety hazard, particularly in areas affected by recent airstrikes, and warned that clearance efforts are ongoing.
The developments come amid continued tensions following the recent conflict, with analysts noting that the presence of unexploded bombs can complicate recovery efforts and pose long-term risks to civilians and infrastructure.
