The Iralepo called for unity among traditional rulers to foster development and protect the Yoruba cultural heritage.

The Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba Oluwagbemiga Ajimokunola Olofin-Adimula, Arulewolasi III, has congratulated the Osolo of Isolo, Oba (Dr.) Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe, ahead of this year’s Owayoko Festival slated for September 1 and 2, 2025.

In a statement issued on Friday, Oba Olofin-Adimula commended the Osolo, his chiefs, and the people of Isolo for preserving a cultural heritage that reflects deep respect for tradition and spirituality.

Describing the festival as “more than a calendar event,” the Iralepo said Owayoko remains “a proud affirmation of heritage, faith, and communal strength.”

He added that the celebration symbolizes unity, renewal of collective prayers for peace and prosperity, and the preservation of cherished customs.

The monarch prayed for a successful festival and reaffirmed his palace’s commitment to promoting cultural harmony and collaboration for the progress of Akure South.

Owayoko Festival, an annual event in Isolo, is dedicated to the veneration of an ancestral deity associated with fertility, harvest, and sustenance of life.

It draws indigenes from far and near to offer prayers, perform traditional rites, and strengthen communal bonds.

“Isinkan and Isolo share a historic relationship dating back centuries, marked by intermarriage, shared markets, and cultural festivals.”

“Both communities are among the oldest within the Akure division and now form part of Akure South Local Government Area,” he noted.
