IPOB sit-at-home order foolishness, must be disregarded – Ohanaeze Ndigbo

By KEMI KASUMU

The sit-at-home order by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as the group’s way of negotiating the release from legally approved custody of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has been condemned.

Making this condemnation in a statement on Monday was the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide, Barr. Basil Onyeachonam Onuorah.

IPOB has placed a sit-at-home order to be observed every Monday in the South East and South South region until Kanu is released.

Reacting to the unfortunate development, the Igbo socio-cultural group’s president general described the order as show of foolishness, asking, “HOW CAN YOU PUNISH YOURSELF AND YOUR OWN PEOPLE IN ORDER TO DRAW THE ATTENTION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Do you know the implications of this your foolishness?”

Barrister Onuorah listed the implications of the “foolishness” being displayed by the group.

“1. It will affect our students preparing for NECO Exam which will cost them extra year, extra money and one full year preparation again. Do not give us an impression that those piloting IPOB activities are miscreants.

“2. Your foolishness could jeopardize the ongoing trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has paid supreme price for Biafran restoration.
You all should know that Biafra is not anybody’s personal property so you must thread with caution.

“3. Shutting down business activities every Monday in the South East and South South region will deprive your own brothers of opening their shops, markets and so many economic activities that will place our own people in a precarious situation.”

He however assured that, “Nnamdi Kanu is our own Son and we are already taking necessary legal and political steps to get him out of custody.”
