Calls for Abaribe’s arrest re-echo, as suspected IPOB terrorists reportedly set Abia Police Station on fire

By OUR REPORTER

“Ordinarily, for failing to produce Kanu Nnamdi, he (Sen Abaribe) should be in prison, just like Ndume was taken to prison.  I see somebody as Abaribe, who is the leader in the senate, championing that. Yes, there are many flaws. He bailed Kanu Nnamdi and during the ENDSARS, we knew what happened. Kanu then was the one who was asking for the head of Tinubu, destroy this, destroy that in the nation. But we have allowed him. He knew what happened to Ndume.”

Suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) terrorist group have reportedly razed the Ubani Market Police Station in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

According to Daily Trust, it was gathered that armed men invaded the station in the wee hours of Sunday.

No life was lost in the incident as policemen had relocated from the place days before the incident, the report said.

It said that the officers working at the station were moved to a station away from the affected.

This is the latest attack on a police facility since the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of the outlawed IPOB, launched its campaign of violence earlier in the year.

The lives of many security operatives have been cut short in the line of duty.

In the meantime, Nigerians across backgrounds are wondering why the government has continued to watch Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe,  not only walking free but also, running his mouth on President Muhammadu Buhari on insecurity in the country whereas, they say, he played a major role in giving wings to how IPOB grew from secessionist agitation to becoming a terrorism organisation.

It will be recalled that Senator Abaribe was a major surety that ensured Nnamdi Kanu’s release on the bond that he would produce him at a given time to face his trials for treason against the country. The suspect, however, escaped and has been programming IPOB from his location abroad to unleash terrors on the country’s Eastern part alongside what already goes on in the North East.

Abaribe should be in prison for not producing Kanu – Deputy Speaker

Earlier in Thursday 6th May 2021, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase (APC, Plateau), had said that the Minority Leader of the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP, Abia), ought to be in prison for failing to produce Nnamdi Kanu in court after standing as a surety for him.

Wase cited the example of Ali Ndume (APC, Borno), another senator, who was put in prison by Justice Okon Abang, over the former’s failure to produce Abdulrasheed Maina, former head of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT), whom he had stood for as surety.

He made the remarks while responding to a Point of Order raised by Hon. Sada Soli (APC, Katsina) on Thursday.

Hon. Soli, citing Order 6, Rules 1 and 3, accused the Minority Leader of the House, Ndudi Elumelu (PDP, Delta) of misrepresenting facts of the events at the Executive Session that the House had on April 27.

The House had an Executive Session on April 27 at the end of which the lawmakers reached 12 resolutions on security, according to a Premium Times report.

In his reaction to the point of order raised on Thursday, Hon. Wase said, “Ordinarily, for failing to produce Kanu Nnamdi, he (Sen Abaribe) should be in prison, just like Ndume was taken to prison.

“I see somebody as Abaribe, who is the leader in the senate, championing that. Yes, there are many flaws. He bailed Kanu Nnamdi and during the ENDSARS, we knew what happened. Kanu then was the one who was asking for the head of Tinubu, destroy this, destroy that in the nation. But we have allowed him. He knew what happened to Ndume.

“Ndume for bailing Maina was taken to prison for not producing him, but we allowed this man to go as opposition person. And that is why they could send everything back to the person. I am a presiding officer, I wish to be neutral as much as possible,” he added.
