INEC says fully prepared for Zamfara bye-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has made all necessary arrangements for the conduct of Kaura Namoda South’s state Assembly bye-election on the 16th of August 2025.

This was disclosed by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Mahmud Aliyu, during a stakeholders meeting at INEC office in Gusau.

He said, “INEC is fully prepared for the exercise as all relevant stakeholders are being consulted and engaged to ensure a hitchfree election.”

He said the election became necessary as a result of the death of former occupant of the seat, Honourable Ibrahim Kasuwar Daji.

He further said adequate security measures would be taken to ensure the safety of all those that would participate in the election including voters and relevant stake holders.

He said the election ,is going to hold in Banga, DanIsa, Kagara, Kurya Madaro, Kyambarawa and Sakajiki with total voters of 56,397.

He also appeal to journalists to avoid the spread of fake news or unconfirmed report as the commission would provide enabling environment for the media to carry out their responsibility.

He also disclosed the resumption of continuous voter registration nation wide with online pre registration on August 18,2025, followed by by in person registration on August 25,2025.
