INEC declares Dauda Lawal as Gov-elect of Zamfara

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has lost his 2nd term bid to the opposition PDP candidate, Dauda Lawan Dare.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) represented by returning officer professor Kassimu Shehu vice chancellor Kebbi state university Aliero declared Dauda Lawal Dare as the governor-elect with a total of 377,726 votes.

He defeated Bello Matawalle the incumbent governor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 311,976.

Lawal Dare was declared as the winner in Gusau, the state capital in the early hours of Tuesday.
