I have lost my physician, my confidant, Ondo Commissioner for Works, Saka Ogunleye, mourns departed anti-coronavirus warlord, Wahab Adegbenro

The Ondo State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Saka Yusuf Opaleye, has mourned his late colleague, the Commissioner for Health and Chairman COVID-19 Committee in the state, Dr. Abdul-Wahab Oluropo Adegbenro, who died yesterday from complications of Coronavirus, codenamed ‘COVID-19’, at the age 65.

In a statement sighted by The DEFENDER, he expressed the pains he sustained from the demise of the anti-coronavirus warlord saying, “I have lost him, my physician, my colleague in the cabinet, my brother, confidant, my personal person and indeed my benefactor.”

He continued: “I have pains in my heart, he was here in my house to celebrate my 50th birthday with me on 28th May, he saved my life, two years ago, and indeed that of my wife a year ago. Our family is indeed grateful to this departed medical icon.

“Doc., as I used to call him, never collected a kobo from me, he has indeed turned his hospital to charity home because of me.

“Friends and associates enjoyed this same gesture from him.

“I saw him few days ago in his residence on a three seater chair, I noticed he looked tired but he told me Hon I need rest, that was the last conversation we had.

“I’m in pains, my family is in grief. …..En ra abaaa!. His usual response to my calls…

“O GA o. O digba o doju alaaa. O da rin nako, Oloreee looo!” The Works Commissioner said in a lyrical Yoruba tone for expressing emmosions.

“I share this moment and pains with his family, Mr Governor, my colleagues and the good people of Ondo State.

“We have lost a refined gentleman, an easy going man, a great man per excellence. Nice man .Adieu Doc.”
