In the simple contribution of Amina Eze, Owoade was politely replied to as she said, “Otunba Abayomi Adeyemi Owoade the president appointment of omokri clearly state that sowore said the truth. Why did DSS cleared omokri if sowore is not truthful?” She asked to know.”
In a statement posted by Facebook page named Igbo Di Uso Media on Wednesday January 28, 2026, it was revealed how biased the justice system in Nigeria has become as, according to the statement, the Department of State Services (DSS) had yet to defend why Omoyele Sowore was charged for what they call Cybercrime calling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a “criminal” but rewarded Reno Omokri with Ambassadorial appointment after staging a United Kingdom-based protest watched globally via same cyber airwaves saying Tinubu is “Drug Lord”.
The post in Wednesday was titled “DSS STRUGGLES FOR ANSWERS AS SOWORE USES RENO OMOKRI VIDEOS TO CHALLENGE CYBERCRIME CHARGES” as picked by this global online newspaper.
Fresh controversy had erupted at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday January 27, 2026 as the trial of activist Omoyele Sowore took an unexpected turn, exposing uncomfortable questions for the Department of State Services (DSS) over its handling of criticism against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the post stated.

According to the post, the tension rose during cross-examination when Sowore’s lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, presented video footage showing former presidential aide Reno Omokri making sweeping allegations against Tinubu on national television—remarks that appeared to attract no legal action.
The clips, tendered via a flash drive, were played in open court while Cyril Nosike, a DSS operative and the prosecution’s first witness, looked on. One video showed Omokri during a 2023 ARISE NEWS interview claiming he possessed court documents from the United States allegedly linking the President to drug-related offences.
“Bola Tinubu is a known drug lord. I have documents to prove it,” Omokri stated in the broadcast.
Another clip captured Omokri insisting he would never align politically with Tinubu.
Abubakar seized the moment to question why the DSS later cleared Omokri for an ambassadorial appointment despite those statements, while Sowore is facing prosecution for calling the President a “criminal” online. The DSS witness admitted he could not explain the agency’s decision.
Continuing the report said efforts by the prosecution, led by Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN), to block the videos from being admitted as evidence failed, as Justice Mohammed Umar ruled in favour of their admissibility.
Sowore is being tried on a two-count amended charge under the Cybercrimes Act, stemming from a social media post dated August 25, 2025, made after Tinubu publicly declared during a trip to Brazil that corruption had been eliminated under his administration.
Following the post, the DSS wrote to X (formerly Twitter) and Meta Platforms Inc., demanding the deletion of the content and the suspension of Sowore’s accounts. The agency also directly instructed Sowore to remove the post.
When those demands were ignored, the DSS initiated prosecution, alleging that the publication was capable of undermining public order and damaging the President’s reputation.
Further questioning revealed additional gaps in the case, as the DSS witness confirmed that the agency neither obtained a statement from Tinubu nor verified whether the President was aware of the post allegedly made against him.
The court adjourned proceedings to February 4, as the case continues to stir debate over free speech, accountability, and the reach of state power in Nigeria.
Otunba Abayomi Adeyemi Owoade, tried to dismiss the posted report saying, “It’s unfortunate that nobody realised that a wonderful, professional, intelligent, brave and very intellectual journalist like Sowore was given an opportunity to present an evidence of all his criminal claims and allegations against president Tinubu, instead he came up with “no bi only me dey talk am“. They all have no proof but yet makes innocent and gullible Nigerians believe they have proofs to back their claims . That is not politics, that is not freedom of speech , that is a criminal act and behaviour.”
Idowu Abiodun Issa also contributed responding to Owoade saying, “Otunba Abayomi Adeyemi Owoade it’s not even “no be only me dey talk am” issue… Sowore posted it on X that the President is a cr!!minal, DSS sue him for cyberbullying and defamation, it’s left for Sowore to proof to the court that it’s the truth that the President is a cr!!minal cos they cannot say you defame someone if what you say about the person is the truth and it’s in public, then argued that Reno Omokri posted it to the public that he has evidence that the president is cr!!minal and if it’s not truth DSS suppose to have sued him, therefore DSS should invite Reno Omokri and obtain the evidence from him and if he’s not able to provide the evidence, he should be sue too for cyberbullying and defamation….
“Reno Omokri don jam agbako like this 😂”.
Sylvester Kanayochukwu Unekwe simply intervened by throwing a question to Otunba Abayomi Adeyemi Owoade, asking to know something: “l thought Otumba is a title for the respected individuals.”
In the simple contribution of Amina Eze, Owoade was politely replied to as she said, “Otunba Abayomi Adeyemi Owoade the president appointment of omokri clearly state that sowore said the truth.
“Why did DSS cleared omokri if sowore is not truthful?” She asked to know.
As for Anche Daniel Yakubu, he said, “Sowore is not in jail today because he is way smarter than them. Let them use whatever wisdom they have to counter his wisdom, I doubt that. Kudos to his defense.”
Ndem Ijoma got dramatic saying, “I’m sure the Prosecution did not envisage this. It was an uppercut by the learned counsel. No wonder the DSS witness was confused. Bravo to Sowore.”
Shilling Paul, among several other contributors to the post, said, “Sometimes our security personnel overreacted to issues that doesn’t concerned them,am very sure Mr President didn’t send them to prosecute Sowore on the issues at stake but they took upon themselves to demonstrate their eye-service to the public.”
