How El-Rufai rejected Tinubu’s presidential jet, arranged private repatriation of mother’s remains

By OUR REPORTERS, Abuja, Cairo

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai had reportedly declined an offer from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use a Federal Government aircraft to transport the remains of his late mother from Egypt to Nigeria.

Sources indicated that the Presidency extended the offer as a gesture of support and solidarity with the former governor during his

bereavement. However, the El-Rufai family opted not to utilize the presidential jet, noting that prior private arrangements had already been made for the repatriation.

The family nonetheless conveyed appreciation to the Presidential Villa for the gesture and concern shown.

The development has sparked discussion within political circles, with some observers interpreting the decision as a reflection of personal discretion during a period of mourning.

Meanwhile, condolences have continued to come in from across the country as preparations proceed for the return and burial of the deceased.
