How Atiku’s campaign suffered low turnout in Lokoja despite huge mobilization
The mega rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held Monday in Lokoja, Kogi State but, again, was met with empty seats at the stadium used as venue.
The rally was part of the presidential campaign of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku will be contesting majorly against President Muhammad Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party from which he returned to the PDP.
In attendance at the intended mega presidential rally was Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
A major voice in the state of the Senator representing Kogi West, Mr. Dino Melaye, was however unavoidably absent as he was hospitalized due to due to his travails with the Nigeria Police Force over allegation of shooting police officer.
Spokesman of PDP in Kogi State and secretary of the media and publicity committee of the party’s campaign council in the state, Mr Bode Ogunmola, had on Sunday said that all arrangements had been made for a successful campaign billed to hold at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.
He said the earlier issues surrounding the use of the Confluence Stadium had been resolved and that the state government had given the party approval to use the facility for its presidential campaign.
Ogunmola, therefore, urged party members and enthusiasts of its presidential candidate to come out en masse from all the 21 local government areas of the state for the rally.
Despite the huge mobilization however, low turnout witnessed at the PDP mega rally has continued worry members of the oppositions.
