HIJRAH 1447AH: Lagos Muslim Community congratulates Muslims over New Islamic Year

“Alhamdulillāh for the gift of life and the opportunity to witness the beginning of a new Hijrah year: 1447AH”, the Muslim Community of Lagos State stated in a New Year message as Muslim globally begins new Islamic calendar year on Thursday June 26, 2025.

In the message jointly signed by Hon. Muhammed Bello Oyinlomo Danmole, President, Muslim Community of Lagos State and Alhaji Jubril Folami, the Community’s Public Relations Officer, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER, it said, “On behalf of the entire Muslim Community of Lagos State, we extend warm greetings to all Muslims across the state and beyond.”
According to the message, “The Hijrah reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions as they migrated for the sake of preserving their religion.
“It is a time for reflection, renewal of faith, and a recommitment to living by the principles of Islam: justice, compassion, truthfulness, and unity.
“As we begin this new year, let us purify our intentions, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, uphold peace, and contribute positively to our communities.
“We also pray for continued guidance, protection, and mercy from Allah (SWT) upon our state, our leaders, our families, and the entire Ummah.
“May 1447 AH be a year of peace, prosperity, progress, and spiritual elevation for us all. Āmīn.
“Hijrah Mubārak!”, it celebrated.
