Gov Matawalle hands over 450 housing estate for low earning workers to NLC

Zamfara State Governor, Mohammed Bello Matawalle has handed over 450 2-bedroom constructed houses to the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) with a view to cushion difficulties on accommodation amongst the teeming civil servants in the State.

Governor Matawalle who during the hand over ceremony today at Daza area under Bungudu local government area expressed unreserved satisfaction with the quality of project, saying the construction of another 1000 units of housing estate will commence Tuesday next week.

He disclosed that, the completed 450 2-bedroom houses would be allocated to junior civil servants who started from grade level 01 to 07 as ‘Owner Occupier’ with 40 percent discount and the payments will be deducted out of their salaries.

“600 3-bedroom houses out of the 1000 units which will be constructed soon, will be allocated to the senior civil servants while the remaining 400 will be allocated to those above grade level 07.

“This is to ensure that the alarming percentage of accommodation problems amongst the civil servants is washed down to the barest minimum”, Matawalle has assured.

He urged the leadership of the NLC to be just and fair on the process of allocation, adding that,

“The process of allocation is expected to be base on merit to ensure the State Government’s policy on the provision of accommodation for civil servants is satisfied”.

The Chairman of the NLC Zamfara State chapter, Comrade Sani Halliru, thanked the State Governor for the kind gesture that is aimed to alleviate the suffering of the workers on accommodation in the state capital, and pledged to ensure that all eligible civil servants benefit from the gesture.
