GOC warns troop as they move for “Operation Last Hold”

Troops deployed in operation LAST HOLD have been advised to keep to the rules of engagement while carrying out assigned task.

The Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division of Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu, gave the advice on Saturday while addressing troops at Gemtillo, Maiduguri.

General Biu charged the troops to put in their best towards ending the Boko Haram Terrorists menace.

The Acting GOC said he was in the camp to motivate the troops and expressed delight with their state of morale.

He added that a lot had been achieved by troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE on ground, urging them to maintain the momentum.

General Biu further advised the troops to shun any acts that would distract them from attaining their objective.

He was accompanied during the visit by some Principal Staff Officers of the Division.

Recall that General Biu, on May 25 this year, took over the command of Seven Division Maiduguri from Major General Ibrahim Yusuf, who had been posted to the Army Headquarters as Director, Consult of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC).

Until his recent appointment, the GOC was the Deputy Director, Human Factor at the Defence Headquarters where he was posted after having served first as Brigade Commander, 9 Brigade Nigerian Army Ikeja and then 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Calabar.

In his remark taking over from Yusuf, the GOC Biu had expressed his determination to build on the successes recorded by his predecessors in the ongoing operations against insurgency in the Northeast to achieve lasting result.

“I came with an open mind to move the Division forward, I assure you that I am determined to take the Division and the fight against insurgency to the next level.

“I will continue to refer to you (my predecessor) for consultations whenever I have issues that need your advice.

“I also count on the support of other soldiers in the Division to succeed, as the task before us requires teamwork,” he had said in a statement that is carrying him on to actions lately as the new boss of the Division.
