Joy in Lekki, as Lagos Journalist, AbdulFatai Olajide, gives daughter out in marriage

It has been said that there can be no better day to honour an accomplished professional and devoted Muslim like Saturday December 5, 2020, when iconic personality of Nigerian journalism, Alhaji AbdulFatai Olajide, gave out his daughter, Sekinah, to Alhaji Qasim Alabi, a former Amir, B-Zone of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), in marriage by his son, Hanif.
Colleagues, who thronged the event to be counted as part of the success, told The DEFENDER.
It was an occasion packed with glitters and glamours as eminent personalities, senior journalists and members of various professional communities joined the two families of Olajide and Alabi in celebrating the great day of their lives as parents successfully laying solid foundation of a new family for their respective daughter and son.
The holy solemnisation of the Aqidun Nikah and pronouncement of Hanif and Sakinah as husband and wife, held at Lekki Central Mosque, Lekki, Lagos, were performed by the Chief Imam of the Lekki Muslim Community, Sheikh Ridwan Jamiu.
On ground to witness the joyful moment were former Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, Executive Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, Lagos based Islamic television broadcaster and Chief Executive Officer, Hajj Mosrur Consolidated Travels Limited, Amir Qamorudeen Ajala, don and Chief Imam, University of Abuja, Professor Taofeeq AbdulAzeez, Sunday Editor of Guardian Newspaper and Chairman, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Lagos State Chapter, Alhaji Alabi Garba, former Chairperson, National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter, Alhaja Sekinah Lawal, Vanguard Newspaper’s Facing Ka’abah Anchor, Alhaji Haroun Ishola Balogun, and Publisher/CEO, Defender Media Limited and Secretary General, Digital Media Publishers of Nigeria (DMPN), Alhaji Bashir Adefaka.

Father of the bride, Sekinah, is Alhaji Abdul Fatah Olajide, who is former Bureau Chief of Daily Trust. Currently he is the Vice Chairman, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Lagos State Chapter, while the groom, Hanif, is the son of Alhaji Qasim Alabi, the Vice President, South West of Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON).
