Ex-Nigerian Minister remembers late journalism veteran, Kola Animasaun, 5 years after

Former Minister of Communications and General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division Nigerian Army, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), has described Alhaji Kola Animasaun, posthumously, as a quintessential personality with his memory still waxing stronger even in death.

Alhaji Kolawole Muslim Animasaun, columnist and former Chairman Editorial Board of Vanguard Newspapers, died on Thursday May 30, 2019 and his passing clocked five years old Thursday May 30, 2024.

Not allowing the opportunity pass him by, showing his respect once again to the great journalism veteran and diplomat, General Olanrewaju, himself a diplomat and former Deputy Defence Adviser in Moscow, Russia, sent out an exclusive tribute to celebrate and pray for the continued repose of his soul.

In the statement titled, “TRIBUTE TO A QUINTESSENTIAL ALHAJI KOLA ANIMASHAUN – A LATE VANGUARD COLUMNIST”, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju recalled the memory of Alhaji Animasaun being a brilliant mentor for many budding journalists who had followed his lifestyles of journalistic writings and idioms.

The statement read, “How Time Flies. The Late Alhaji Kola Animashaun left this sinful world into eternity five years ago. Alhaji Animashaun was a veteran journalist of note whose pen on paper portrayed very delightful and superior quality of ideas and realistic approach.

“Kola Animashaun Journalism Column “Voice of Reason” in the Vanguard were always delightful articles to read with relish containing joyful words of wisdom and commonsense.

“Alhaji Animashaun was a brilliant mentor for many budding journalists who had followed his lifestyles of journalistic writings and idioms: among whom is Prince Bashir Adefaka, formerly of Vanguard Newspaper, and MD, The Defenderngr.com, an Online Newsworthy Media. He described Late Alhaji Animashaun as a “father difficult to forget for a long time.”

“Alhaji Kola Animashaun was a devout Muslim who kept to his Islamic faith until he breathed his last on earth. Alhaja Modupe, his wife of inestimable value and inseparable for many years, had been together as an example of excellent family parenting.

“Alhaji Animashaun was a good father who lived by example, was well respected, and admired in the Veteran Media publication circle. He was well beloved by the Muslim community, where he served the jamma.

“May Allah accept his soul into Aljana fridous, Amin. Maj Gen Tajudeen Olanrewaju Rtd.DSS, psc(+), ndc, Former Minister of Communications,” the statement said.
