For saying Buhari has done well for South East, Atiku-Obi campaign warns Governor Obiano to stop campaigning for Fulani candidate
The Atiku campaign organisation, however, failed to tell which of Atiku, whose party’s 16 years in power failed to develop the South East, and Buhari, whose party’s mere three and a half years in power has seen the South East with many Federal presence, should be of interest to the Igbo.
The Atiku-Obi Campaign Organization has warned the Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, to stop campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection.
The Director-General of the organisation in Anambra, Dr. Harry Oranezi, stated this at a press conference in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Saturday.
This came following recent comments credited to Obiano wherein he stated that Buhari had done well for the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones for commencing work on the second Niger Bridge.
The governor also reportedly hailed Buhari for completing the Zik mausoleum in Onitsha, otherwise known as Zik Place, awarded 22 years ago, but abandoned by successive administrations.
Speaking, the DG of the pro-Atiku group said Obiano’s support for Buhari ran “counter to the collective and corporate interests of the Igbo.”
The Atiku campaign organisation, however, failed to tell which of Atiku, whose party’s 16 years in power failed to develop the South East, and Buhari, whose party’s mere three and a half years in power has seen the South East with many Federal presence, should be of interest to the Igbo.
Oranezi added: “Obiano support for Buhari is in utter disregard to his (Buhari’s) penchant to marginalise and discriminate against the people of the South-East and Anambra State in particular.
“Buhari has continued to maintain studied silence over the massacre of innocent South Easterners in the North, strategic exclusion of Southeast in rail connection, security architecture of the country and sundry appointments.
“The Igbo’s shall not be deceived by the actions and utterances of persons who want to achieve ill-conceived objectives.
“We will certainly demonstrate our preference for good governance and strive to make Nigeria work again,” the group stated.
