A source in Abuja who spoke with The DEFENDER however described Femi Fani-Kayode’s attitude to national issues as “out of control” and called for serious action in ensuring that he and his likes would not get away with “nuisance behaviour hiding behind the leniency and sincerity of President Muhammadu Buhari with democracy”.

A former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, is angered by Tuesday judgment delivered by which Olisa Metuh, ex-National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was jailed over corruption related offences amounting to N400 million.

Fani-Kayode, who described Metuh as a political prisoner, stressed that the once upon a time loud politician was persecuted for standing up against tyranny in Nigeria.

A source in Abuja, who spoke with The DEFENDER, however described Femi Fani-Kayode’s attitude to national issues as “out of control” and called for serious action in ensuring that he and his likes would not get away with “their nuisance hiding behind the leniency and sincerity of President Muhammadu Buhari with democracy”.

Recall that an Abuja Federal High Court had convicted the former PDP spokesperson for laundering the sum of N400m during the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had charged Metuh alongside his company, Destra Investment Ltd for laundering the sum of N400m meant to prosecute the war against insurgency in the North east during the era of Jonathan.

The anti-graft agency claimed that Metuh had received the money from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, under the leadership of Sambo Dasuki.

But yesterday, Justice Okon Abang found Metuh guilty of all the charges and sentenced him to seven years in prison.

Reacting to the conviction, Fani-Kayode described Justice Okon Abang as a “biased and corrupt judge.”

In a tweet, the self-styled pastor and lawyer wrote: “As for my friend & brother Olisa Metuh he will weather this storm. He is only one of many political prisoners that has suffered persecution in Nigeria for standing up to the tyrant and that has been convicted by a biased judge and a corrupt court.

“I have no doubt that, like Bode George, he will win on appeal. He will be vindicated. He will come out with flying colours. He will be fine and he will live long and prosper. Sadly yours will not be as happy an ending.”

Our source however asked to whom “Kayode was referring when he said ‘Sadly yours will not be as happy an ending’, adding that, “this man, a supposed former minister who should not be seen near anything but patriotism but who has chosen to continue to be uncultured in his behaviour, if he thinks that after government Buhari will be dealt with for doing his job as anti-corruption leader, he must be joking because, we will be here, God’s willing, and we shall take it squarely with them.  That is why there will no space for PDP where he belongs to come 2023 except APC and whoever is the candidate will be voted for,” he said.
