FEC: FG bans doctors from private practice
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a ban on private practice by doctors working in public hospitalsThe decision was taken at the Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Health Minister Isaac Adewole later told State House reporters that there was a need to do comprehensive job evaluation.
He said a committee had been set up to determine what exactly an individual should be paid to ensure salaries are paid appropriately across board in the entire country.
According to him, most of the unions that recently embarked on strike contravened the labour laws especially the Trade Dispute Act.
The minister advised Nigerians not to panic over the outbreak of monkeypox virus, asking them to report all suspected cases to health affiliates and continue to maintain high level of hygiene.
He said most of the suspected cases reported did not meet cases definition, noting that there was ongoing laboratory diagnosis of suspected monkeypox cases.
Adewole added that an emergency operations centre had been activated to coordinate response to suspected cases.
