The Federal Government has commenced feasibility studies for the construction of the proposed multi-purpose Dam at Bagel village in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The site was officially handed over to officials of Vibro Engineering Ltd, the consultants and project managers of the project by the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA), for the immediate take off of the project.

Plans for the construction of Bagel multi-purpose dam had reportedly been on for 39 years.

Speaking during the handing over of the site to the consultants, the Executive Director (ED), Engineering Services of UBRBDA, Engr Isa Muktar, said the consultants were expected to commence feasibility studies at the site immediately.

“The consultancy services that has been awarded is in readiness for the award of construction contract for this particular river. And I believe by the time we are done with the consultancy service, the consultancy report will enable us know the exact dam axis or location whereby the dam will be provided or constructed.

“Damming of rivers is one of the best ways of managing or utilising our natural water resources. So, if we can dam it a lot of people will benefit, our communities will be able to engage in a lot of activities such as dry season farming.
