Former SSG emerges Ekiti APC governorship candidate

The immediate past Secretary to Ekiti State Government SSG), Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji, has been declared winner of the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State.
Chairman of the committee for the primary election and Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, announced that Oyebanji polled 101,703 votes to defeat seven other contestants.
A total number of 107,877 voters were accredited for the exercise out of which 104,983 voted.
Earlier in the day, Oyebanji described the process of the primary as flawless, disagreeing with claims that he’s the closest and most favoured by the governor among all the aspirants.
Eight aspirants contested for the state APC governorship ticket to succeed Dr. Kayode Fayemi, whose second term tenure expires later in the year.
Asides Abiodun Oyebanji, who has just won the much important ticket, seven other, who withdrew over complaint of irregularities midway to the primaries, are; Kayode Mojo, Demola Popoola, Femi Bamisile, Bamidele Faparusi, Dayo Adeyeye, Opeyemi Bamidele and Afolabi Oluwasola.
All things being equal, Oyebanji, on the ballot as APC candidate, will slog it out with his major co-contender, Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) layer in the year.
