FALSE ACCUSATION: Eyes on Trump, Christian genocide script writers as Islamic teacher helplessly lynched, burnt in Kaduna

By KEMI KASUMU and OUR REPORTER, Kaduna

Many advocates of peaceful coexistence in Nigeria have agreed that the much desired peace and security in the country will face serious challenges until the government and all leaders stop generalisation of blames and selective judgement in addressing evils perpetrated in the society.

An Islamiyya teacher and mother of four, identified as Malama Ummulkhair, was allegedly lynched and set ablaze by a mob in Maraban Jos, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following false accusations of attempted child theft.

The incident occurred on Sunday as Ummulkhair was reportedly on her way to attend an Islamic lecture when some residents accused her of attempting to steal children. Witnesses said the allegation quickly spread through the community, triggering mob action.

According to accounts from residents, the woman was initially attacked by a crowd before security operatives intervened and rescued her. She was subsequently taken into protective custody at a nearby police station for her safety and further investigation.

However, tensions escalated when a large crowd reportedly gathered at the police station, demanding that she be handed over to them. Despite efforts by security personnel to disperse the crowd and restore calm, the mob allegedly overpowered officers on duty, forcibly removed Ummulkhair from custody, killed her, and set her body on fire.

Residents described the incident as tragic and disturbing, noting that the deceased was a married woman with children and was reportedly heading to an Islamic gathering when the accusations emerged.

One resident said the case should have been handled through proper legal channels rather than mob action.

“This was a matter that should have been investigated by the police. Instead, people took the law into their own hands,” the resident said.

Another community member attributed the incident partly to growing concerns and rumours about child theft in the area, which he said had heightened public suspicion and anger.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the woman was attacked over what he described as “fictitious allegations of child stealing.”

According to Hassan, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maraban Jos received a distress call at about 10 a.m. reporting that a woman was being assaulted by a mob over unverified allegations.

“The DPO swiftly led officers to the scene, rescued the woman and moved her to the station for safety and investigation,” Hassan said.

“Despite this, a large crowd later stormed and besieged the police station, overpowered officers on duty, forcibly removed the woman from custody, killed her and set her body ablaze.”

Police said officers fired warning shots during the unrest in an attempt to restore order. Reports indicate that one youth was shot while several others sustained injuries during the chaos.

The Kaduna State Police Command condemned the incident, describing it as “barbaric, criminal and a direct assault on the rule of law.”

Hassan disclosed that several suspects had been arrested in connection with the killing, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved.

“A comprehensive investigation has commenced and all culprits will face the full weight of the law,” he said.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns about mob justice, misinformation, and the need for adherence to due process in addressing criminal allegations.

In the meantime, some Christians including American commentator Mike Arnold, who refused to stop mischief over the mob killing of Deborah Yakubu in Sokoto in 2022, have been keenly studied as they do not say a word over the false accusation by which Islamic teacher – an innocent woman – was falsely accused, killed and set ablaze in Kaduna.

Despite that Sultan of Sokoto and Leader of Muslims in Nigeria, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, being the first to issue a press statement not only condemning the mob action but also calling for immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved, some Christian leaders including the current Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), allegedly, working in cahoots with foreign agents later confirmed in the actions and pronouncements of the United States President Donald Trump used it as a “good” example of their acclaimed Christian genocide.

In the case of Kaduna, which no Christian leader, body or in government has clearly spoken about talk less of condemning and calling for action over, United States President Donald Trump and his agents have not talked and all eyes remain along their direction. Nigerians who have persistently argued their Christian genocide is no more than fallacy are saying they are now vindicated.

A known anti-Islam Yoruba Facebook influencer (names withheld), who would be the first to jump us to lash wrongful ethnic and religious profiling of criminalities at Muslims and Islam in the South West region, could only blame religion without being specific over the killing of the Islamic teacher in Kaduna.

Many advocates of peaceful coexistence in Nigeria have agreed that the much desired peace and security in the country will face serious challenges until the government and all leaders stop generalisation of blames and selective judgement in addressing evils perpetrated in the society.
