Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed condolences to the Yar’Adua family, government and people of Katsina State following the demise of Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of his friend and classmate and former Nigeria’s Chief of Staff Supreme Headquarters (Vice President), late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.
The late Dada was also mother of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and the sitting Senator representing Katsina Central, Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, according to a statement from the Media Officer of the former President signed by Malam Garba Shehu and copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER on Tuesday September 3, 2024.
In condoling the family on the demise of the matriarch of the Yar’Adua family, the former President said the “news of the passing of Dada is extremely sad.”
Buhari, Nigeria’s former Military Head of State (January 1984 – August 1985) and two-term democratically elected President of the country (May 29, 2015 – May 29, 2023), said the late mother of great Nigerian leaders “was a mother who cared for her family as she did us, the friends of her children.
“Her virtuous life was an inspiration to us and all who came close to her; her righteousness and high values of life gave the country a set of successful and patriotic leaders. May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus.”
