General Olanrewaju, in a statement released by his media office Friday evening, said the passing of the nanogenarian has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

“Baba Adebanjo’s demise has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill in a long time. On a diversity page of Nigerian history, Baba Adebanjo was a hero for the people of the Southwest region of Nigeria. In the history page of the country, Baba Adebanjo’s name would ring a bell.

“From the beginning of his political adventures, he was an Awo adherent follower, indeed, one of his favourite political actors and close confidant. He was among the titans who fought for the independence of our country. He believed in the union of Nigeria, provided every other notable political leader shared the same sort of national identity and beliefs.

“He was a good leader of strong will and was trusted for his words by his own people. As a nationalist who fought for the emancipation of nigerian citizens from colonial administration, he deserves a national burial and also by his own SW yoruba region.

“May the soul of Papa rest in perfect peace, Amin.”
