Ex-Gov Yari, Marafa emerge APC Senatorial candidates for Zamfara West, Central

Former Zamfara State Governor AbdulAziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Marafa have been elected unopposed as All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for Zamfara West and Central senatorial candidates, respectively.

The Zamfara West APC senatorial primaries, held in Talata-Mafara, was led by Chairman of the APC electoral committee on the primaries from National Secretariat Abuja, Alhaji Shehu Kagara.

Zamfara West comprised six Local Government Areas of Anka, Bakura, Bukkuyyum, Maradun, Gumi and Talata-Mafara.

A total of 310 delegates from 62 political wards of the six Local Government Areas participated in the primary election that produced Yari as candidate.

Kagara, while announcing the result of the election, said out of the 310 votes cast, Yari scored 306 votes. He commended party delegates for their peaceful conduct of the election.

That was as, in the like term, the election that produced Kabiru Marafa’s candidacy was held in Gusau with him emerging with larger portion of votes by 415 delegates as announced by the electoral officer, Mr Sola Solayemi,

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle, who is also from Zamfara West, described Yari’s emergence as a welcome development.

Matawalle said having Yari as APC candidate for Zamfara West senatorial district is a great success considering his track records as past governor of the state.

The Governor called on people of the state to continue to support APC administration and make sure that they vote APC at all levels in the upcoming 2023 general elections.

In their respective acceptances speeches the emerged candidates commended the delegates and party executives from their respective constituencies for their kind support to them.

They both promised to support state and federal government in addressing security challenges and promotion of economic growth and general development of the state.

Yari and Mafara thanked Gov Bello Matawalle for making efforts to actualise reconciliation within the party in the state.
