A bill aimed at repositioning Kaduna State traditional institution to replace the existing colonial law has been drafted in Kaduna state.

The State Governor, Malam Nasiru Elrufai stated this during the quarterly meeting of the State Council of Chiefs held at the Kaduna state government house.
Governor Elrufai said the document has been forwarded to the traditional rulers to study and make observations where necessary, stressing that the meeting was convened to discuss some of the grey areas before the transmission of the bill to the State House of Assembly.

The governor called on the traditional rulers to contribute effectively to deliberations that would shape the future of the traditional institution and restore its fading glory and urged them to continue to sensitize they are about the importance of intelligence gathering and sharing of information with government and security agencies as serious acts of personal responsibility.

He gave assurances that his government would continue to nudge the Federal Government to comprehensively empower its military and security agencies to take the battle to the criminals, reclaim ungoverned spaces and secure communities.

The Governor described the meeting was timely as it is coming at a time when Government and Security Agencies are working to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens, so everyone go about their legitimate businesses without any fear or hindrance.

Elrufai said the meetings have over the years proven to be a productive platform for eminent traditional rulers to discuss topical issues and proffer advice to Government for the continued peace and development of the State, emphasising that the extreme human, economic and social losses caused by the raging insecurity must not be allowed to continue.
