The DEFENDER can authoritatively report that the information credited to Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose that Mr. Deji Hakeem Ogunsakin, People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s deputy governorship candidate in the Saturday July 14 election in the state, is a Muslim is false.

Copy of the letter written to correct impression against news going round that PDP’s running mate in Ekiti State for Saturday election is Muslim.

It will be recalled that Governor Fayose, who had been accused on several occasions in recent times as carrying out anti-Muslim agenda in the active part of his tenure, has been making strange appearances cladding in Islamic cleric garbs with tesbiyy (rosary) in his hand in such times.

Another thing done to placate the Muslim Community of Ekiti State that he would make them part of the coming administration if PDP is voted to succeed him was telling them that the Muslims would have a Muslim deputy governor in Mr. Deji Hakeem Ogunsakin.

But in an investigation conducted by The DEFENDER, it was proven that “Deji Hakeem Ogunsakin” is not a Muslim.

Our investigation however clarified that it is not as if the candidate for the deputy governorship position is bad but, our source said, “What is bad is that the governor is deceiving the Muslims that he is a Muslim and it is for this reason we believe that our votes cannot go PDP because, if we can be deceived at this point, we will be slapped later if they win”.

Corroborating our findings, a reliable source within the Progressives Muslim Council (PMC) in Akure, Ondo State capital, confirmed that what Fayose is parading as Muslim running mate is not truly Muslim.

We are in possession of electronic copy of a letter addressed to the Governor Fayose by a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Victory Chaple (My Father’s House), of Maiye Ogundana Street, Shangisha, in Lagos, dated July 2, 2018 and signed by the Parish Pastor, Pastor Bayo Olugbemi, appreciating the governor for choosing one of their own as deputy governorship candidate to Eleka at the election.

In the letter, Pastor Olugbemi made a clarification against the impression that was making the rounds about the religious status of the candidate saying, he is not a Muslim.

“It’s also pertinent to correct the impression from some quarters in Ekiti that our brother, though born by Muslem parentage, is not a Muslem but a practicing Christian who gave his life to Christ and was duly baptized according the doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and as laid down by our General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye”, the letter stated in the letter to Fayose.
