*Olukere lauds exercise, appeals to politicians to accept outcome
The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has warned social media writers and bloggers to stop publishing unauthorised results about the Ekiti election.
The resident electoral commissioner for the state, Professor Abdulganiyu Raji described the results being declared on social media as illegal.
In a statement, Raji said the Ekiti election is still ongoing and listed several factors that will make the declaration of result in the media as premature.
“Counting of ballots is still in progress, collation of results is equally going on in some areas”.
“All the floating news in the social media in respect of the result of the election should be discountenanced by the public. The announcement of the election result would be made by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) at the appropriate time,” he said.
Fayose not standing Ekiti vote, but says he’s winning
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State says he’s winning the ongoing polls, a huge disconnect given he’s not standing election.
In comments in an interview, he said he was stating the current situation of the ongoing polls.
“I have to state it as it is now. I am winning,” he said.
“Despite what they are doing, I will still win,” he said in apparent reference to the opposition APC.
Fayose is PDP but the candidate standing election on the party platform is Kolapo Eleka.
“I won the last election by 82,000 votes. How did they recover from that? Even if you cut the heads of 82,000 people, you can’t get far,” he said.
Appearing in a neck collar, he alleged chairmen and lawmakers of his party had been arrested.
“This is a national disaster. The thugs are operating freely with cutlasses and gun. It is regrettable and sad,” he said.
“In Efalaye, most of the unit card readers are not working. One voter spends up to 30, 40 minutes. INEC needs to be enhanced.”
VC allegedly arrested
A yet to be confirmed information has it that security agents have arrested the Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Prof Samuel Oye Bandele, for organising thugs to snatch ballot boxes in Ijesamodu in Ilejemeje Local Government of Ekiti State to help PDP win Saturday’s governorship election.
PDP candidate Olusola Eleka cries foul in Ekiti
Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party is already crying foul about Saturday election outcome, alleging manipulation of results.
Eleka, who had earlier described the Saturday’s elections as commendable albeit initial itch as card reader did not accredit him but later voted, spoke just after his political godfather, Governor Ayodele Fayose became the only voice that talked about All Progressives Congress (APC) carrying AK47, cultlasses and knives to molest voters across the state while, according to him, security agents hijacked the process.
The PDP’s candidate thereafter changed from his earlier comment to speak accordingly.
In a statement by a spokesman of the candidate, Lere Olayinka, Eleka said, ”We contested against security agencies” and alleged that plans were afoot to tinker with the results of the election.
Olayinka said results in most of the Local Councils are currently being tinkered with.
”Aside the fact that it was an election of the PDP versus all the security agencies in the country, we are confident of winning.
He said the various wards collating centres have been taken over by armed thugs backed by security agencies as it was before and during the election.
“Despite the intimidation and harassment by security agencies, we are still hopeful of winning the election but we are confronted with a clear plot to manipulate the results.
“We are therefore calling on all well meaning Nigerians to prevail on the security agencies and INEC to allow the will of Ekiti people to prevail.”

Monarch lauds exercise, appeals to politicians to accept outcome
The Olukere of Ikere, Oba Ayodele Ganiyu Obasoyin, has urged likely losers in the Ekiti governorship poll to accept defeat honourably in the spirit of peace and stability.
He urged whoever wins the election to be magnanimous in victory and carry all along irrespective of party affiliations.
Oba Obasoyin also said that incidents of voting buying, violence have not been witnessed in his Odo Ise ward, unit 2 in the palace of the Olukere.
Although, he alleged that some parties have been sharing money to electorate since Friday, he said security agents have been on top of their game protecting the electorate and haven’t intimidated anyone.
Olukere said there has not been any incident of poll snatching also within his domain.
The monarch said: “In all contests there will be a loser and winner, whoever loses should be fair enough to accept defeat. I appeal to politicians and our people to accept the poll results.
Election have been free and fair. The FG has done well by providing adequate security in Ikere . There has not been any intimidation or compromise by the security agents.
Politicians are full of propaganda. In Ikere, we have no case of votes buying although we heard that some people have been distributing money since Friday.”
