EFCC intercepts N49m cash at Kaduna Airport

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna zonal office, yesterday intercepted N49million cash in five large black 150kg sacks following a tip off.

A statement from EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said during a routine baggage screening, five sacks were sighted unattended and without tags containing fresh bulk items suspected to be money.

He said upon examination, the bags were found to contain N200 denomination in 20 bundles totalling N40m and N50 denomination in 180 bundles totalling N9m with seal purportedly emanating from the Nigeria Security and Minting Plc (NSPM).

He said investigation into the matter is ongoing.
