EDO ELECTION: At 7:30pm I was in front Oshiomhole’s house, I saw 30 vehicles of police operatives – Pedro Obaseki
*Says Edo people won't be intimidated by APC FG's 'fear factor'
In Benin City, Edo State capital, a noticeable police presence has kept people talking.
This is as Pedro Obaseki, a lecturer and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shared his observations of the area near former Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s home.
Obaseki reported that around 30 police vehicles and two armored tanks have been stationed there, creating a tense atmosphere.
This heavy police presence has led to road blockages, causing traffic delays for many, including Obaseki himself.
Some local residents are worried about the reasons for this heightened security presence.
Obaseki suggested it could be an attempt to instill fear in the community, but he believes the people of Edo will not be intimidated by such measures.
In a video shared by AIT, Pedro said, “I am saying as we so speak, as at 7:30 p.m I was in front of Oshiomhole’s house in Okoro Otun, I have to pass his house to get to the studio here, I saw two armoured tanks on each side of his house and about 30 police vehicles. There is no thoroughfare right there now. I think that is just to create the fear factor, but Edo people are not afraid.”
