Delta CP pays official visit to Governor

The Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, on Monday 12th February 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State Executive Governor,  Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, at the Government House, Asaba.

Olufemi, who was recently posted as the 22nd Commissioner of Police Delta State, accompanied by members of the Command Management Team was warmly received by the State Governor and members of the State Executive Council.

CP Olufemi, during his address, began by appreciating the IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who has tasked him with the mandate of ensuring that Deltans and residents, sleep with their two eyes closed.

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori, members of the state executive council, and the entire people of Delta State for their cooperation and partnership in the fight against crime and criminality.

While reiterating that security is everybody’s business, the CP assured the Executive Governor and Deltans that crime would be reduced to the barest minimum during his administration, as he emphasized that officers and men of the Command would respect the rights of all citizens in the discharge of all assigned duties.

In his remark, the Governor welcomed the Commissioner of Police and his management team.

He stated that the CP should keep to his promise of ensuring that all Deltans sleep with their two eyes closed, and not with fear of the unknown or being attacked.

The Governor stated that in line with his M.O.R.E agenda which clearly states that he will enhance peace and security, promised to partner with the CP and provide all the necessary support the CP and his management team would need.

The Governor also commended the outgone Commissioner of Police, now AIG Wale Abass for all he did for Deltans while serving in Delta State.

The Governor assured the CP that Deltans will continue to cooperate with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the State for the state to have peace which will enhance development.

The Governor also stated that the State has inaugurated the Police trust fund and he promised to support and also encourage other stakeholders to partner with the State to support the trust fund.

On a final note, the Governor while affirming his awareness of the vehicular-related challenges plaguing the Command, promised that some vehicles would be provided to support the work of the Police in the State.

This, he said, is to demonstrate that his administration will continue to strengthen a partnership with the police to curb crime in the state and ensure absolute rural and urban safety.
