Crescent Varsity to honour Mohammed Ali at 9th convocation

Crescent University Abeokuta (CUAB) Ogun State Nigeria will be conferring an honorary doctorate degree (DSc honoris causa) on the chief executive officer of the United Kingdom based media, Islam Channel, Mohammed Ali on the occasion of its nineth convocation later this year.

The university, which prides itself as Citadel of Academic and Moral Excellence, was founded by the former Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Judge Bola Ajibola, in June 2005.

In a release by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Idris Katib, Ali is expected to be one of the special guests of honour to attend the forthcoming convocation.

The university had similarly conferred honours on the richest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former President of Nigeria Alhaji Shehu Usman Shagari, Africa’s number four monarch and Suktan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Chairman Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko and Sir Kensington Adebutu.

According to the release, Mohammed Ali will be conferred with Doctor of Science (honoris causa) in mass communication in recognition of his positive contributions to free press and media industry.

Mohammed Ali founded Islam Channel in 2004 and organized “the first Global Peace and Unity event in 2005 which has since attracted over 50,000 members of the public.
