Court orders police to arrest PDP Chairman, Turaki

By OUR REPORTER, Abuja

The judge held that Turaki should be arrested and arraigned before the court by the Nigeria Police Force, headed by the Inspector General of Police for allegedly giving false information to the police.

As Tinubu’s minister, Nyesom Wike, continues to play games to dominate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of 2027 with a view to use it to break the ranks of opposition in favour of his principal, a Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, where he is Minister, has issued a warrant of arrest against the Chairman of the party, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN).

The presiding judge, justice Keke Meke, on Thursday March 26, 2026 ordered that Turaki (SAN) be arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for his alleged deliberate absence from a court proceeding against him as well as for allegedly giving the Nigeria Police Force false information.

According to reports, the matter had been assigned to a high court sitting in Zuba but Turaki allegedly deliberately failed to appear before the court in person to take his plea. He latter filed a complaint against the presiding judge, demanding that the presiding judge recuse himself from his case and that his case be reassigned to another judge.

Also, justice Keke Meke refused to grant the application by Turaki’s counsel that the charges against the defendant be squashed. Following the warrant of arrest against Turaki, the court adjourned the matter to April 22nd for Turaki’s arraignment.
