Speaking at the weekend during the Golden Jubilee of the Bishop on the Niger, Dr. Owen Nwokolo in Bascillica of St Andrews Anglican church, Onitsha, Obiano described the report as ‘bloody falsehood.’

“Immediately I got the information around 12.30am, because I don’t joke with such issues whether rumor or not, I ordered the track team of the joint service as well as the bomb disposal experts to invade Otolo Nnewi. Within 12.30 to 3.00am, I was directing the operations. I ordered that they bring down everything from the truck and search all the tomatoes and yams, until they confirmed that the truck was free of ammunition,” he stated.

Only on Sunday, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo’s consultations with leaders of the South East which started with governors and other political office holders climaxed in the meeting with the Igbo traditional rulers in the Villa, which rounded up on a note of serious warning to Igbo people against attitude including agitations capable of causing troubles for the country.

“It was therefore surprising that while the Federal Government was making frantic effort to ensure that Nigeria is free of discord and disharmony among the people, some Igbo people of the country would insist on causing trouble by wrongly leveling such a huge allegation of arms movement against innocent Northern businessmen who were only moving their farm produce to Anambra State as part of trade for the consumption of the South East people,” a respondent expressed dismay.

He however thanked Governor Obiono for his unbiased intervention saying the like of the governor is expected from other leaders of Igbo part of the country where “most of the crisis emanating from hate have been experienced.”
