Chief Imam of Oyo visits LAUTECH VC, speaks on role of education, spiritual guidance in nation building

The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Sheikh (Barrister) Bilal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, on Thursday January 29, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, where he held a warm and productive meeting with the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Rasaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu.

According to a statement from the Office of the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo, released by Ibrahim Arogundade, the visit, described as mutual and cordial, proved to be morally uplifting, intellectually revealing, and spiritually fulfilling.
“It provided an avenue for meaningful engagement on issues of common interest, particularly the role of education, moral values, and spiritual guidance in shaping a progressive and harmonious society.

“During the interaction, the Grand Chief Imam commended the Vice Chancellor and the University management for sustaining an encouraging academic atmosphere and an inviting learning environment conducive to excellence, character development, and innovation.
“Both leaders discussed areas of cooperation and support, with emphasis on fostering mutual understanding between religious leadership and academic institutions for the overall benefit of students, staff, and the wider community.
“The Vice Chancellor and the Grand Chief Imam reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support and relevant assistance whenever the need arises, in the collective interest of educational advancement, moral uprightness, and societal development.
“The Grand Chief Imam prayed for continued peace, wisdom, and success for the University, its leadership, and the entire LAUTECH community,” the statement said.
