Chief Imam of Ogbomoso pays congratulatory visit to Ilorin Emirate over Imam Dasuki’s appointment

Imam Ayilara congratulated the Emir on the successful appointment of the new religious leader and prayed for the monarch’s good health, longevity, and continued guidance in fostering peace and development within the Emirate.

The Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso Land, Imam Yunus Olushina Teliat Ayilara II, PhD, on Friday June 26, 2026 paid a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Ilorin Emirate following the appointment of the new Grand Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani.

The visit began at the residence of the Grand Mufti of the Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Sulaimon Farouq Onikijipa, OON, where Imam Ayilara was warmly received. During the meeting, he congratulated the Grand Mufti on the successful emergence of the new Grand Chief Imam and offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and continued leadership in the affairs of the Emirate.

The Grand Mufti later led the Ogbomoso delegation to the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR. Imam Ayilara congratulated the Emir on the successful appointment of the new religious leader and prayed for the monarch’s good health, longevity, and continued guidance in fostering peace and development within the Emirate.

The delegation also visited the family residence of the newly appointed Grand Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, where Imam Ayilara offered special prayers for Allah’s guidance, sound health, wisdom, and a successful tenure as he assumes the spiritual leadership of the Ilorin Muslim community.

Speaking after the visit, Imam Ayilara described the engagement as a demonstration of brotherhood, unity, and mutual respect between the Muslim communities of Ogbomosoland and the Ilorin Emirate. He prayed for enduring peace, stronger ties, and sustained progress between both communities.

The visit underscored the longstanding cordial relationship between the two Islamic communities and reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting unity, peace, and religious harmony.
