Buhari submits Form, says he has unquestionable desire to protect interests of Nigerians
*Don’t allow those that caused problem for Nigeria return to power, President charges
*As he urges party members against being complacent but work to win

“Fellow party members, I am taking this step with all humility, sense of responsibility and an unquestionable desire to serve and protect the interests of all Nigerians. I am very grateful to those dozens of organizations who have joined together and contributed funds to purchase these forms. I assure them and the rest of Nigerians that, if nominated and if elected, I shall continue to serve you to the best of my ability.”
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, submitted his Expression of Interests and Nomination Forms to the National Secretariat of All Progressives Congress (APC) at Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja to seek the presidential ticket of the Party in contesting the February 2019 general elections in the country.
Not only did he submit the form but followed it up with a bold statement that the step he took to seek re-election was “with all humility, sense of responsibility and an unquestionable desire to serve and protect the interests of all Nigerians.”
On ground to receive the forms from the President was the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, among other party leaders.
Ahead of his arrival, security officials including operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police officers from the Presidential Villa were on on ground at the Party’s secretariat to beef up security.
While submitting the forms, President Buhari cautioned members of the party to against being complacent as he urged them to be prepared for the APC to win the forthcoming 2019 elections and not allow politicians who brought the country its knees from 1999 to 2015 to return to power.
In his a prepared statement copy of which was made available to The DEFENDER, the President said, “I am here in person among friends and colleagues to put my name forward to my party, the All Progressives Congress, seeking nomination to contest the Presidential Elections next year, 2019.
“Fellow party members, I am taking this step with all humility, sense of responsibility and an unquestionable desire to serve and protect the interests of all Nigerians.
“I am very grateful to those dozens of organizations who have joined together and contributed funds to purchase these forms. I assure them and the rest of Nigerians that, if nominated and if elected, I shall continue to serve you to the best of my ability.
“Let me today appeal to party members not to be complacent but to prepare, strategize and win in 2019 elections. We must not allow those who brought the country to its knees from 1999 to 2015 to come and take us back,” he said.
The DEFENDER had reported that the President Muhammadu Buhari received the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from members of a support group, the National Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAN), led by the group’s Chairman, Board of Trustees Farouk Aliyu, accompanied by National Coordinator Sanusi Musa among others at the State House Abuja.
